At AvSoft Australia, we’re excited to announce AvCARS, a new aviation weather service designed specifically for pilots operating beyond mobile coverage.
With the rapid rollout of satellite messaging on modern smartphones, pilots can now send and receive text messages even when outside 4G/5G range. AvCARS takes advantage of this capability to deliver critical aviation weather information directly to your phone via simple text messages.

How to get started with AvCARS?
Text an airport identifier to +61488 883 024 to get started. First time users will receive a $5.00 introductory credit applied, and then messages will be billed at $0.10 per 150 characters (plus any carrier charges for the outgoing message from your phone). You can manage billing settings, add credit or automatic account top-up at https://live.avplan-efb.com/account/sms.
SMS Flight Alerting
SMS Flight Alerts allow you to specify mobile phone numbers so they receive an SMS when you takeoff and land, with the airport and runway name and an optional online tracking link.
To get started with SMS Flight Alerting, head to Settings, AvPlan Live Tracking or https://live.avplan-efb.com/account/sms.
There is no longer a limit of two SMS numbers for the SMS Flight Alerting service. The same introductory credit will be applied to users of this service, and then messages will be charged at $0.10 per arrival or departure message.
